expiration date 

a week before the SCMS, i decided (in a whim) to join Brooks Run Happy fun run. it’s only 9km and it’s a fun run. and i thought it should be perfect for warming up for the Half Marathon a week after.

it was fun, indeed! this was the first running event where the Mama Runners SG run together (with a few absent). so for me who usually run in race alone or just with shinta, running with five other mamas was awesome!

and the timing and location were also interesting. it is a night-run event, where the start and the finish were in Marina Barrage… if you’ve been to the place, you’d know how awesome the view is from there…

so, we all met up at the train station and took the shuttle bus (just for the runners and their cheerleaders) to the Barrage. once there, the runners go to the starting pen, which was located at the barrage bridge…

and the families and kids went upstairs to the roof, watching the kites and running around…

the running route goes from the Marina Barrage Bridge to Tanjong Rhu park, U-turn back to the bridge. then from the Barrage, we ran by the water from the Garden by the Bay to the promenade of Marina Bay Shopping Mall and made a U-turn back at the end of the promenade.

the finish line was at the Marina Barrage roof, so it was quite a climb at the end of the run. but it was sooo worth it, because the medal was cute!

thr roof was set up like a party place, with blinking lights and loud music. we were up there waiting for the sweepstakes result to be announced: two tickets to San Francisco to join the Brooks Rock ‘n Roll Marathon! too bad none of us got it. oh well.

we had fun anyway :)
