expiration date 

today was the day that aina had been waiting for: the Fun Day 2012!

we went to a similar fair almost two years ago, and she had a great time. this time, though, it was much more special. she’d be meeting her school friends and was eagered to show them off to us, her parents. she would also be performing at the end of the fair… and for this, she’d been practicing for the dance for months.

there was just so many things to be excited for…

there were games to play and tons of prizes to win. well, since this was games for kindergarten kids, they didn’t need to win anything to get prizes. the teachers and volunteers gave out little prizes just for participating. aina collects so many prizes that i wish i had brought a bigger bag…

and she was excited to find that one of her teachers, Ms. Christine, was on one of the games.

the balloon castle was also a hit, despite the scorching hot sun.

there was also many balloon sculptor artists, so it looked like every other kids were carrying animal-shaped balloons. aina chose to get the white kitty.

she really liked the kitty, that the cat balloon actually accompanied her to bed that night. i was a bit worried it would pop, but it didn’t.

but the highlight of the day was the performance. every parent bear the hot weather for this moment. every kid just couldn’t wait to get on the stage.

and this is also the time when i get introduced to her classmates. you see, aina’s school do not allow parents to go into the school premises. we can only walk them up to the building entrance. and most of her friends take school busses home, so i don’t get to see them after school. but i hear their names mentioned daily, because that’s all aina talk about.

then, the performance started. all the parents huddled in front of the stage… it was like a battle to take a video of the performance, so much squeezing, not enough space. and the fire ants on the nearby tree didn’t help either…

there were actually three songs performed by this class. the Robot Dance was the first. i’m not posting the second and third song, because it gets kinda long. but, you can see it performed roughly the third song below…

there were four afternoon K1 classes, so they had to divide the performance into two groups. aina was on the first group. and when the second group was on the stage, she got together with two of her friends, Kate and Natasha, and started to dance along in front of the stage…
