~ europe day 1: taking off to london ~

09 March 2012

the day started as usual, aina went to school and ari went to work. i continued packing while they were out… once aina got home, she helped me packing her toys and bags. she was very excited that she couldn’t stop squealing.

we ended up with a medium sized luggage, my handbag, ari’s backpack and aina’s little backpack. we also brought along aina’s old stroller, which she hasn’t used for a year and a half.

our luggages

the cab dropped us off at Changi Airport around 8pm. i was hoping that this time we could fly from Terminal 3, but who would’ve thought that British Airways fly from Terminal 1… how disappointing!

so, we went to T3 anyway, to grab dinner and walk around.

then we went straight to our gate at T1 and boarded not long after. this is aina’s first long-haul flight where we use traditional airlines (as opposed to budget airlines). so she was all amused with the TV screen on the seat in front of her. she pushed all those buttons on the armrest, tried out the pillow and blanket…

comfy seats (compared to budget airlines)

and when the meals came, she had to try every single thing (even ours) enthusiastically. i guess she realizes that budget airlines are not usually as elaborate.

she even watched a movie (Happy Feet Two) while mommy and daddy were sleeping.

surprisingly, we all had a good sleep. after aina got bored with the movie, she decided to lay down and fell asleep. the breakfast woke us up. and the plane landed in Heathrow, London a little after 4 in the morning. not long after we finished breakfast.

i realized that i’ve never been to Heathrow. or at least to their Terminal 5 (hoo, 5 terminals). the thing about Heathrow is that the security check is a pain in the ass. maybe it isn’t as bad as in the States, but it makes me appreciate traveling around Asia… much more relaxed and free.

then, we’re off to Barcelona around 7:30 in the morning :)
