~ halloween prep: eyeball eyepatch ~
this year, we made a few things for our Trick or Treat Part. one of them is eyeball eyepatch that we’re planning to give out. so the idea is to make it easy and (kinda) fast.
things you need:
- styrofoam balls (we have many of these from last year) or pingpong balls
- skin-colored felt
- cheap white-ish fabric
- markers - black, red and eye colors you want to make
- red & blue thread, i use embroidery thread because i have many laying around
- elastics
- needles, foam glue and scissors
first, cut the felt into leaf-shape pieces and the white fabric into small circles.
then, sew the white fabric onto the felt, but giving about 1.5 inches distance in-between the fabric and the felt using the red and blue thread. i usually go back and forth a few times, so there will be 4 thread of blue and 4 thread of red going from the white fabric into the felt. make sure all the knots are in the fabric instead of on the felt.
the, glue the white fabric on to the ball like the picture above. if you use the styrofoam ball, make sure to use foam glue so it’ll stick well.
meanwhile, you can draw the eye on the balls using sharpie or other markers. aina was in-charge of drawing the black part of the eyeball.
so, they look kinda like this:
once the glue dries, you can start to draw the veins starting where the thread joins the white fabric all the way to the front of the eye, to make it look more like distressed eyeballs.
then, make two holes on each edge of the leaf-shaped felt, and tie the elastics to make an eyepatch.
and, viola! your eyepatch is done! even your dog can wear one… :)
hahaha lucu sekali…
seru ma, acaranya… ntar deh aku tulis ceritanya :)
