~ Central Fire Station building ~
last week, on the way home from aina’s ballet class, a fire truck passed our bus. so we talked about firemen, firetrucks and fire station all the way home. ari suggested to go and check out the Civil Defence Heritage Gallery, which is located at the Central Fire Station building this coming weekend.
we biked to the beautiful building after lunch. it was a beautiful and cool-ish day. perfect for riding.
the entrance to the gallery was free, but they close at 5pm sharp. so come early.
the gallery itself is pretty small, only occupying 1/3 of the facade area (two floors). the rest of the building is still in use for Singapore Fire Service. unfortunately, the tour to the tower is only available two days a week, and only on weekdays… so we only went into the gallery.
there were three vintage fire trucks in displays. one of them, the newer one, you can get in and sat in it.
and they have small-sized uniform for the kids to try on. they’re a little big for aina, so we didn’t put the pants on. pant-less firewoman :)
the inside of the gallery…
we should’ve brought our big camera. the rooms are a little dark for our iPhone to take decent photos. so, we’ll probably be back again to take more pictures.
since the gallery is small, and we still have plenty of time before dinner, we stopped by the Philatelic Museum right after. that’s gonna be on the next entry.
