expiration date 

so, after about 7 months being enrolled in a ballet class, aina got to do her first ballet recital, on stage. yep, she was in a ballet concert :)

aina’s ballet school has a ballet concert once every 6 months. they’re such a nice ballet school and they allow any student who are willing to participate in the performance. so, when i asked aina if she wants to participate on the July’s show, she was quite eager.

so we bought the concert tickets a few months earlier. we took aina to the performance’s rehearsal and practice every sunday — on top of her regular friday class — for a month. my mom flew to singapore to see her granddaughter’s first ballet performance (she was a ballerina in her youth, too… so it was a big deal for her).

we started the day early, since aina has to be in the NAFA’s Lee Foundation Theatre for the full run rehearsal at 11 in the morning. once we got there, the place was packed with moms of the kiddy ballet. there were people doing the kids hair and make-up. at first, aina was hesitant to have her hair and make-up done by someone else other than me, so i had to hold her hands the whole time during the process. good thing that the make-up for baby ballet (aina’s class) was very light (powder and blush only).

after the rehearsal was done, we immediately cought a cab and went home to have lunch and picked ari up, who was sick that day and needed some rest in the morning. aina was excited the whole time and couldn’t wait to do the real performance.

she had to report to the theatre at 2PM, even though the show started at 3:30PM. so, after we dropped aina off at the theatre, ari, mom and i went to the cafe at La Salle for some coffee.

the theatre was full… i think most of the people there are parents and family members of the performers.

since aina’s class is the youngest of them all, they got to be the first group on stage. we didn’t have to wait long… aina is the fourth from the left on the first picture.

why are you jumping by yourself, aina?

oops, the chain is off!

after the baby ballet show, the pre-ballet class and ballet 1 to 4 classes took turns performing on the stage. after that, there were a lot of solos, like some parts of Paquita and Sleeping Beauty. there were pieces from Swan Lake, too. and they ended the show with the BACH piece that won 3rd place in American Ballet Competition back in June.

honestly, awesome stuff. aina seems to love the show, too. and she loves her bunned hair that had a small pink bow attached to it. she kept the little bow and sometimes, lets snowy wear it. she wasn’t too impressed with her hair after the bun was taken off though.
