expiration date 

ever since aina watched Tangled a few months ago, she’s been fascinated with Rapunzel. she’s been wanting to grow her hair “as long as Rapunzel” (let’s see how long it will last), and she’s been doing a lot of reenactment of the movie… sometimes, she’s the Rapunzel (and ari is the prince), sometimes the whole thing is played by puppets.

last night, during one of the play session, ari and aina decided to make a castle tower (a thing that can work as a castle AND a tower) out of cardboard so that aina can use it when playing puppets.

so, first, aina chose the color of the cardboard (we have a few different color cardboards laying around in the craft room).

then ari drew and cut the cardboard into shape…

and scored the board to create the windows and doors…

koda tried to participate, but she didn’t know what to do and ended up just laying around looking bored.

until aina decided to play with her :)

and aina wasn’t just being mischievous to koda…

anyways, the castle tower didn’t take long to finish. we brought it to aina’s room, where it’s going to be stored. koda got excited again when we moved to a different room.

we taped the sides to form somekind of support so that the tower doesn’t fall off and created a backing for the tower that serves as a platform for the puppets to stay on. and drew a simple facade so that the tower looks nice enough…

by the time the castle tower was done, koda’s excitement had died down…

but aina was very happy, because she now can play rapunzel with her puppets and stuffed animals.

aina said, she’s going to add a flag on top of the cupola. that’s the only thing missing from the castle.
