expiration date 

after the visiting the tortoises, we headed to Geger Beach (got a bit lost a long the way, but we managed to ask the kids around).

Geger Beach is one of the few beaches left around eastern shore that isn’t under the Nusa Dua complex (read: expensive hotels’ private beaches). unlike the sand in Kuta Beach, which is very fine and powdery, the sand in Geger is rougher. but the view makes up for it. the blue turquoise water against white sand is soooo beautiful!

  

as soon as aina get to the beach, she whipped out her sand bucket and toys and sitting very content next to the umbrella, playing with the sand. she wasn’t interested at all in swimming, so i had to swim by myself. when i finally can convince her to go into the water, she got scared over the waves. oh well…

we had our lunch under the umbrella, which is a bit pricey for my likings. but i guess we have no choice. around 2pm, after having a dip one more time, we left for another beach.

next up is Padang-padang, which is pretty famous for surfing. i’ve been wanting to see this beach, because it’s located down the steep cliff, and the pictures always look pretty. they said it’s a quiet and shaded beach.

we had to decend down a pretty steep stairs in between huge rocks, which opens into the beach.

well, it IS shaded, but the beach was rather crowded and full of people selling things. maybe it was quiet 5 years ago, when the beach hasn’t been showing up in movies. it’s not as crowded as Kuta, of course. and i think, this is one of my favorite beach of all time.

oh, and there is no restroom down there. make sure you empty your bladder before decending the stairs down. i’ve learned the lesson.

after Padang-padang, we stopped by Blue Point, which is also famous for surfing. since we’re running out of time (we’re planning to watch the Kecak Dance at Uluwatu, which is on the next entry), we didn’t go down to the beach. instead, we stayed at the Single Fin cafe at the top of the cliff, ordering some ice cold drinks and, well, borrow their bathroom.

the view is breathtaking, though.

after a quick rest at the Single Fin Cafe, we left for Uluwatu temple. it was almost sunset…

aina was asking: “are we going to another beach?”

me, thinking she’ll be dissapointed: “no, not any more. it’s almost sunset and we’re going to see the ramayana play…”

aina: “hoorayyy! i can’t wait to see hanoman! and i’m bored with beaches and sand. please don’t go to any more beaches, okay?”

hahaha, i guess, there is such thing of too much beach in a day.
