~ marina barrage at night ~
yesterday evening, we went to see Singapore’s Marina Barrage. we got there pretty late (7:30pm), and honestly, we almost gave up and go back home. the instruction to get to the shuttle bus from the MRT were not very clear. they were basically just a piece of paper pasted on walls and poles. some of them are flapping around blown by the wind and are not even pointing to the right direction. and with all the constructions around the MRT station, the waiting area looks like a deserted place, making us less sure that we were actually waiting at the correct place. there were another father and toddler son waiting for the bus, and they were not any less confused than us.
but the Marina Barrage itself was very pretty. there were many water features with colorful lights, where you can dip your feet (or your whole body, if you wish, as we saw many kids do). and the view was amazing: dead center Singapore Flyer with the colorful lights from downtown buildings in the background.
it was around 8pm at night by the time we got to the grass-covered roof, and there are still a lot of people having a picnic under the night sky. i wish we bought our picnic gear and dinner with us. it would be a perfect night to have a nocturnal picnic. besides, the restaurant selection in the Barrage isn’t that good.
Ohhh, beautiful!
Sorry it was such a hassle to get there… but definitely looks worth the trip.
it was definitely worth it! although next time, we’ll get there a little early (i think it’d be great to catch sunset from there) and bring some food for picnic :D
