~ the runaway koda ~
koda ran away from home today. ari, aina and i were out of the house to have brunch and do some grocery shopping. since the maid was in the middle of cleaning the house, we left all the doors wide open, including the gate. this is normal, because koda is trained to stay within the house. or so we thought.
when we came back from the grocery shopping, the maid asked us, “didn’t koda go with you guys? she’s nowhere to be found”.
at the beginning, i didn’t believe that koda would step out of the house by herself. “maybe she just fell asleep upstairs…”, i thought. we started calling her out and searching for her around the house to no avail. so, ari went out and search the neighborhood.
i’m actually not too worried of her wondering far… she’s not the adventurer type of dog. in fact, she’s intimidated by new environments. i’m, however, scared of her being picked up as a stray dog and put in a pound. i was worried that we won’t be able to find her.i guess, if that happened, koda has been micro-chipped anyway.
ari found her wondering around about three blocks away from the house. she was scared, confused, hot and thirsty. and we think she felt guilty about running away. ari called her name, and she immediately run to him and followed him home with her tail between her legs. once she gets home, she immediately went into her “room”, drank her water and sat in there. she only stays in her “room” if she feels guilty about something or she’s being punished of doing something bad.
she probably went out of the house looking for us. since the gate was open, she took the liberty to take a stroll and look for us. then she got distracted… and then she got lost. that’s so typical of koda…
i think she has learned her lesson: “the weather in Singapore is too hot and i don’t have the stamina to stay under the sun for too long. and there is no one to protect me from loud sounds, like trucks passing by and the sound of thunder”.
c’mon, koda… how could you run away from home if this is how you look like when it’s raining with thunder outside:
i don’t think she will ever run away again. at least, not anytime soon.

HAHA AWW how sweeeet! She’s scared of the thunder then I guess? :P I don’t think my dog is really, and the weather here is not really hot so if he would run away, I think he’d go far. He’d want to come home though, if he didn’t get run over, but he’s really adventurous :/ Glad you find her safe and sound :)
Lucky Ari could find her right away. Popo’s cat left home for four days and that made popo worried for four full days.
Lol, what cute pictures of her hiding. I’m glad that you found Koda okay!
awwwww….. poor koda! she just got very confused i think. i’m very glad she’s back.
