~ koda times two ~
no, this is not a trick photo… guess which one is Koda… :)
so, the other dog is Libby. she just arrived in Singapore. she’s been living in Tokyo and Hong Kong prior to the move. however, she’s originally from Singapore. just like Koda, she’s a Singapore mongrel… and to our surprise, they look soooo much alike that they could easily be twins. but they’re probably not even related… and Libby is almost 7 years older than Koda.
i first spotted her at Flickr. i thought i saw Koda’s picture on someone else’s photo album. but of course, there is no way there will be photos of Koda covered in snow. besides, Libby looks more fluffy. i contacted Lynn, the owner of Libby who was living in Tokyo at that time, and told her how our dogs’ photos could easily be interchangeable.
today, we went to the Botanical Garden again with Koda. we just finished our ice cream and were on our way to the taxi stand, when someone called from the direction of the restaurant.
“hi, is that Koda?” she points to Koda.
i was surprised and immediately thought, hey, koda is pretty famous! cool… so i gave a big smile and said, “yes, this is her.”
“this is Libby,” she pointed to her dog, which i didn’t see earlier.
whoa! ever since Lynn declared that she’s moving back to Singapore, i’ve been wanting to see Libby, Koda’s twin. you see, mongrels usually do not look alike. so, having to see another mongrel that looks just like your dog is very exciting! and it’s quite amazing to see how similar their baby pictures are. and it turns out that Libby used to have the same habit of chewing on her fur to the point that she gets bald spots. and Libby used to be as skinny and lanky, but grew her fluffy fur as soon as she experienced Tokyo’s winter…
they’re so alike! except Koda is still skinny and lanky…
and today, we didn’t even plan a meeting. Lynn just recognized Koda because she looks like Libby. isn’t that cool?

that’s awesome! i’ve seen libby’s photos on flickr too and thought she looked so much like koda! how funny it is that she bumped into you guys too. is singapore really as small as they say it is? ;) btw, i still ooh and aah over koda’s puppy pics! too cute!
hahaha, i guess Singapore really IS that small… and it’s even smaller for people who have dogs, because the places that you can bring your dog along is quite limited. and flickr photos helps too! :D
Koda yang atas (yang sama ari) ya?
statement pertama bener: koda yang di atas. tapi itu gue, bukan ari! perut ari sih rata, dan pahanya jauh lebih langsing dari itu! hahaha.
Hah. I can’t even tell them apart until I read the part about Koda being skinny. At least you don’t have to worry about Koda’s chewing problem… assuming that Libby’s similar habit has ceased.
that’s what i’m hoping, too… since Libby doesn’t have bald patches anymore, hopefully, as Koda grow up, his habit will go away as well… *cross finger*.
horeee bener! Koda yang atas… keliatan banget ekspresi curious nya… Kalo Libby bisa dilihat dari kuping nya yang agak2 pointy ke belakang… the ears could tell you something… sok tau ya gue??? hihihi!
selamat, selamat, anda menang. hihihi. tapi emang bener kok, kuping libby lebih pointing kebelakang kalo dibanding koda dalam posisi yang sama.
This is such a cute picture! It’s so magical that they should meet just like that ^^
i know, right! it was definitely a wonderful surprise :)
wow, they really do look alike! I would guess that koda is the one on the left?
yep, you got it right! they do look alike, almost like they’re from the same breed, even though there is no such thing for pure mongrels like Koda and Libby.
cool indeed.
but how did they react to each other? who is the shy guy who is the talkactive one?
the photo above, the one near the camera (Libby, right?) doesnt seem to be impressed by the presence of Koda, who, on the other hand, cant take his eyes off his lookalike.
(hmm come to think of it, Koda doesnt seem to look at Libby’s direction, either).
just like with any other dog, Koda is the excited one. Libby is as cool as a cucumber. but since Libby is known to be “not too friendly with female dog”, we didn’t really allow them to play with each other.
i think, the owners are much more excited than the dog. i don’t think the dog even know that if they look alike, and if looking alike is anything worth to get excited about ;P
her eyes, not his : )
