~ BGAW: Lamia ~

11 January 2007

new year, new ghost… forget about doing this once a month. i’ve abandoned this project waaay too long. i’ll just post whenever i have a new one.

anyways, this is the fourth pretty ghost from Beautiful Ghosts Around the World series: Lamia.

Lamia-2.jpg

Lamia is originally a part of Greek Mythology. she was a princess of Libya who, just like most of the girls in Greek Myth, fell in love with Zeus. Hera, Zeus’ wife got jealous, killed her children and turned her to a half-serpent monster.

now, Lamia has become a folklore. in some stories, she search and devour children, as a revenge of having her children killed. in other stories, she hangs out in cemeteries while disguising her snake part. she seduces young men into lovemaking and suck the life out of him in a succubus fashion.

so, boys, be careful when you are picking up pretty girls in a cemetery. don’t forget to check if they actually have human feet ;)

the other BGAW are: Kuntilanak, Yuki Onna, Huli Jing, Glaistig, Manananggal and La Llorona.
