~ that crazy dog… ~
we just got back from the vet to check about Koda’s bald spots. and i was right… it was psychological issue. so, the vet prescribe her with some kind of anti-anxiety drug — a downer, i guess.
now, that amuses me. neither ari or i have taken psychological drug, but our dog is now on one…
Koda does have excitement issue. when she gets excited, she shuts out all the commands and won’t listen to anything around her. she gets too excited when meeting new people, that she would jump around and scare the people. she gets too excited in meeting other dogs, that she would sniff and glomp non-stop, ending up annoying the dog… (today, at the vet’s office, Koda just managed to annoy the hell out of Skipper, the vet’s dog).
besides having her socializing with other humans and dogs, perhaps, i’m hoping, this prescribe drugs would also help her excitement problem.
we’re also flipping through some brochures for dog obedient school that we picked up at the vet’s office… it says:
Basic Obedience ($300 for 8 weekly classes):
- Sit — done, except when she’s excited and distracted.
- Stay — same as above. although when she’s taken for a walk, it’s hard to keep her on “stay”, because everything out of the house is something “exciting” for her.
- Down — done. same as above… and we made up our command (“Koda, lay down”).
- Come — this works perfectly. but we also made up our own command… “Koda, come here”.
- Heeling — only works when she’s on leash… and the command is “stop”. he he. i didn’t’ know what “heel” was at the time i taught her.
- Canine Good Citizen Greetings — this is the main reason why we picked up the brochures on the first place. her greeting is jumping on whatever in front of her and scare or annoy the greeted one.
- Stay Inside the House — done. she can do this.
- Stand — hm, i don’t think she understand this command. yeah, we’ve never taught her to “stand”… wonder why.
we’re still deciding if we want to enroll the little dudette here.

It’s normal for puppy to be hyperactive. I’m not sure how obedience school in Spore is like but over here in Aust, we enrolled ours in community ones which is conducted in a big group of about 5 owners & their dogs.
Before & after the class, he can actually socialise (namely, tugging around) with other dogs in a play pen, which is a good thing, I guess, to reduce the curiousity & anxiety when meeting new dogs & people.
yep, i think it’s the same thing here in the singapore. koda needs to socialize badly. that’s probably the main reason she acted crazy around people and other animals. i don’t think she is proficient in dog language.
an overactive dog. hum. and i always thought that dog is ALWAYS overactive…
not to the point where she scares people and annoys every dog she met… that’s not too normal.
