~ food week (last week) ~
ari’s parents left for Jakarta yesterday… after nine days of food galore (ari’s mom is an EXCELLENT cook), we’re back to our plain, boring food…
when they came over, they brought two suitcases full of food… two suitcases!! kitchen was the first room she visited when she arrived, where she immediately start cooking…
one day, we had Nasi Uduk for breakfast and Soto Betawi for dinner. the next day, we had her homemade Bakmie for breakfast, and Yakiniku for dinner. another day, she made a really yummy Mie Goreng with her homemade Bakso Ikan Goreng for breakfast, and we had Sate Kambing barbeque for dinner. on Eid, she even cooked Ketupat, along with Rendang, Opor Ayam and Labu Siam Sayur… yumm!!
and after every meal, there is always Rujak… the Indonesian Rujak. i don’t really like Singapore’s Rojak. so, we have bengkuang, jambu air, mangga muda, etc, in our fridge.
they also brought Manisan Bogor, the mango and salak. there is korma in the fridge, too…
she also made us red onion pickle, which is ari’s favorite. now, we have fresh ginger and lemongrass growing in our little garden, just in case i magically can cook and start making Soto Betawi… heh heh.

hmmm just curious, how do you cook without a proper stove? is the stow-away electric cooker adequate to create that many variety of foods?
it actually is. our electric stove has a pretty high power. i don’t see a need to buy a gas stove for that reason. the only downside is the high electric bill.
kata warga kampung gajah sih “tanpa skrinsut adalah basbang!” :D
so, skrinsut plis!
yah, ngga papa deh basi… makanannya terlalu menantang ampe lupa motret… hihihi…
waaaaaaaaaaaaaa.. itu makanan bikin ngiler. kalo gw sih, makan enak dikit aja badan langsung melar :(. elo kok nggak ya Thal?
yan, gue kan blum punya anak… ntar kalo udah, paling juga sama :)
(padahal sih, tadi pagi nimbang, berat gue nambah 2 kilo!! hahaha.)
wah wah, sampe laper gue baca menu kalian.
and wow, having a fresh herb/spice garden is so nice! i miss having a garden :-(
gantian deh, biasanya gue yang terlaper2 liat foto2 elo :)
i think you deserve a garden with fresh spices more than i do. i don’t cook that often.
