~ gardening ~

02 August 2005

yesterday, our two potted plants arrived from the nursery. we bought one bamboo tree and one plumeria, which we put on our backyard.

we also got a smaller vine-plant that we plan to have it grow on our driveway’s roof. so, today, we went gardening tool shopping at a little store near our house, and we started our first step into gardening….

first, we put some wires on to the roof’s column and plant the vine on the base of it. hopefully, the wires will give some support to the vine.

we also tried to clean up all the weeds. but the house has been left unattended for over two months, and the amount of weed growing in two months was… well, a lot. so, we only cleaned up about 1/3 of it and ended up only trimming the grass. we need to think of another way to get rid of the weed…

there are so many dead plants, too… i guess that’s what happened when no one takes care of the garden. our trash bin is now full of dead leaves, trunk and weed. and the work doesn’t seem to get anywhere close to be done.

Have you tried Roundup on the weeds?

not yet, but we’re thinking about it. but we’re also thinking of stripping the grass all together and replace it with a nicer one. although i think it’s going to remain as thought for a while… hehe.

if you are thinking of using roundup for your lawn, better watch out! it will burn your grass along with the weeds! you will end up with these ugly yellow patches. and it takes months for them to grow back. trust me, I’ve been there :). plus those nasty chemicals will seep into the ground and contaminate the soil and the water line. not a good thing, now i weed my lawn, front and back manually. it’s therapeutic and makes me feel better…

ouch! thanks for warning me! yeah, the reason why i haven’t bought roundup is because i don’t think it could tell the difference between grass and weed… so, now, i’ll just do it manually. our grass patch isn’t that big anyway :)
