~ the band and the first man ~

08 October 2004

it’s been over a month since we go to News Cafe to see Second Born performed. since it would be the last Friday night before the Ramadhan starts, the four of us — Noush, Fenny, Ditha and i — went there to enjoy the cafe-ing night.

everything went on as usual. we got our usual table, the band performed as wonderful as usual, the crowd memorize almost all the skits and songs… as usual…

except for one thing… Taufik Kiemas, the husband of Indonesian current president, was there, sitting about 10 feet from us right in front of the stage. he was with a bunch of other people whom i don’t know. but then again, i don’t watch tv and refuse to see anything related to politics because those type of news only gets me upset and gives me headache. so, maybe there were more well known people there, but i only recognized him.

the good thing about him being there was the band played extraordinarily good. more songs, less break, and even better performance. Second Born was sooooo good tonight. the stage act was hillarious and entertaining, the band played exceptionally well, and the choice of songs were cool (Oppie sang a few of Jacko’s good-old songs and mimicking his act: moonwalking, the Black and White video thingy… they also performed the jazzy version of Bohemian Rhapsody which was my favorite). perfect entertaintment.

the bad things were: the cafe was full of cops and bodyguards. there were scattered everywhere… in the outside, on the back, near the bathroom… along with their walkie-talkies and ear-piece thingies. and there were a small hold up as we left the cafe after the band is done. the first-gentleman (is that what you call the husband of a president? first-lady? first-gentleman? …whatever.) had to leave first. along with him, there goes about 10-12 cars… all black. i thought it was amusing.

but seriously, the good totally out-weigh the bad. Second Born was sooo entertaining tonight, that i hope mr. Kiemas would come to News Cafe every Friday night.

I believe Mr. Kiemas is like to be called Mr. President tho… after all, he is married to Mrs. President ;)
