expiration date 

yesterday, i finished a crochet small hat and a tiny pouch. the hat was started as a project while i was on the plane from Melbourne to Singapore. since we’re not allowed to bring knitting needle on board (their pointy ends might be used to kill people and hi-jack the plane…), i dediced that crochet is more suited for airplane travels.

so a day before taking off, i bought a couple of yarn balls and a piece of paper on hat pattern. the plane ride was great. but, alas, i left the pattern on the seat pocket as i unboard the plane. so, bottom half of the hat was following the pattern, the rest was completely made up by thalia.

i say it wasn’t bad (check out the picture below). it’s a little loose for my head, but overall fit was nice. and since this is the second crochet piece i’ve done, i’m pretty proud of my “guessing” skill on the pattern (the first one was the handbag). and i’m getting quicker at crocheting, too.

the small pouch was made within an hour, although the braided string was done two days later (see what i meant by getting quicker?). Nia, ari’s sister was going to a wedding one day before she move to Jakarta for good. as she dressed, she realized that all her formal purses has been packed away…

this pouch was an attempt to make a small bag for the wedding party. i failed, though. the bag completely unmatched the dress, it didn’t look formal enough, and i ran out of time… (it was half an hour time… and i couldn’t make a bag within half an hour…). i stopped after Nia left for the party, and finished the bag two days later.

so, the bag itself wasn’t wellmade. i was in hurry, and the design is kinda… plain. but it was a self-accomplishment to try making something without pattern, as my third crocheted piece.
