~ presidential election ~

05 July 2004

even in the Singaporean television, the news is all about Indonesian Presidential election. two of the channels cover the stories all night. one of them even have special coverage on it. what a news…

nia and i, who are jobless, met up with ari near his office to have lunch before heading out to the Indonesian Embassy to serve our rights. as we nearing the embassy, we can see people scattered all over the place. and it was raining lightly.

this is the first time for me to vote out of the country (and the second time voting… yeah, for a 29-year-old, i’m not a very good citizen). despite the crowd and the rain, the process was very quick and painful. there was no wait whatsoever. i basically in-and-out of the embassy in less than 5 minutes, where most of the time was used to circle around the embassy. the line was short.

according to the story from the cab driver, we’re probably lucky to pick the time after lunch, because this morning, the line was so long that they had to close the road around the embassy to accomodate the people in line. the taxi driver told us that the embassy was so packed, and he at least has taken 4 trips to dropped off fellow voters. the news said that there are at least 20,000 indonesians went to the embassy to vote. wow, i didn’t know there are that many indonesians here, in Singapore! we could still see the lane divider used from this morning.

as nia said, early birds may not get the best deal afterall… hehe. “thank god we slept all morning! we’re well rested and we avoided the line all together!”

ps: i just deleted 835 comment spams in this journal. argh! those spammers are cursed! CURSED, i tell ya!

2x voting sounds about right kan? bukannya pemilu emang tiap 5 taun sekali? i’ve only been able to vote twice and i’m 26?

well, that first one was the legislation election on april :P i guess i should count that as 1 election process, right? basically, this year is my first time to vote :)

since i’m 29, i should’ve gone thru 3 elections. but, ah, who cares, right? there are some people who declared to themselves not to ever vote in their lifetime. hee hee.

and yes, i got *that* much comment spammer. i have no idea how… maybe because i don’t turn on my MT Blacklist. but if i turn it on, the threaded comment doesn’t work :(
