~ hollywood rip-offs ~
my parents subscribe to the World Movie Channel on their cable. today, i found their flyer on our kitchen counter. one of the section is called: Hollywood Rip-Offs. of course, the article is not as negative as it sounds. they basically play movies that has been an inspiration of a Hollywood movie.
i’ve been a fan of stories that has been translated to many different cultures (ie. Shichinin no samurai & Magnificent Seven, or the whole Road to Perdition thing). just so that i remember, i need to jot down the movies listed in the flyers; except for Ring — since i watched both versions.

the last two movies are just ‘inspired’, so the story is probably different. but i’m still curious to watch and compare. besides, Reservoir Dogs is one of my favorite movies.

iya thal, gue dulu di kansas dari taon 92 tru 99, tp dah gitu pindah ke san jose trus ke seattle sampe 2003. adenya ari sapa namanya thal? maybe i know. trus kapan ada di kc nya? gue sih tinggalnya di lawrence, ks. but i do know many indonesian from kansas city. tergantung angk mana juga. gue kan angk jebot hihihi….
walah, vel… ternyata elo emang dari taon jebot. kayaknya sih ngga mungkin kenal deh, soalnya jauh banget… hihihi.
ooh.. gue baru tau kalo seven samurai ada versi westernnya… kayaknya wages of fear bagus kali ya… liat ah di netflix ada ngga ya?
netflix… i sadly cancelled my account with them when i moved back :( emangnya netflix ada di boston juga ya? gue pikir cuman ada di NY… :P
ada donk netflix di boston… :P kayaknya sih mrk punya shipping centers dimana2 gitu, makanya bisa next-day service…
ehhh lucu juga yah komen-nya bisa berbalas2an gini… hihi.. susah gak install-nya, thal?
susah banget sih ngga. cuman petunjuknya agak terlalu technical, kalo menurut gue. misalnya, kita musti nambah column di database table atau run commands dari unix shell, tapi dia ngga ngasih penjelasan untuk orang awam.
kalo iseng pengen, tanya gue aja. toh kita sama2 di dreamhost. hehe.
good reference, thal! i’m a sucker for movies, these days i like watching foreign movies *non-english, non-indonesian speaking* better than the hollywood version.. lebih asik, the stories are sometimes so simple yet interesting..
