~ fuck verisign ~
the whole day yesterday, avocadolite was inaccessible. the site was down, all email was bounced. it turned out that i forgot to renew the domain name. i remember that a few days ago was avocadolite’s birthday, but i forgot that it means i have to renew the domain name… tsk tsk tsk.
anyways, network solutions is a piece of crap. not only they’re overpriced, it’s a completely non-functional site. or even, non-functional service. ari and i used about seven different credit card to pay for the renewal, and none of them go through. yes, SEVEN! it was a combination of mine, ari’s and my dad’s. we tried visa, mastercard, amex… didn’t go through. the payment page keeps throwing error saying that our card info isn’t valid… etc etc.
i even called the american express to check if my card has been terminated. of course, my card is all healthy. so, it’s just the damn verisign.
so, i tried to call the payment hotline… and even the hotline is broken! it keeps disconnecting us in the middle of the call. i practially tried every single selection (international calls, mind you), in hope that i would at least reach a representative… well, we never got there.
after about 6 hours of frustration, especially thinking of all the bounced important emails, ari called. he told me that he went through using a totally different number that he found somewhere in their site.
whew.
he also told me he was yelling left and right to the reps. and wrote a nasty email to verisign. hopefully, they’ll read it. as for me, i’ll move the domain registration elsewhere as soon as possible.
ps: i’m not linking verisign or network solution. it’s a part of my sulk action. although i’m sure it doesn’t mean shit, but it makes me feel better.

yeah, that’s why I transferred all my registrations to Domainitron, Dreamhost’s registrar. Now that I think of it, you probably got money for that ;-)
glad to see you are back up. i was wondering what happened.
yeah, network solutions sucks big time! i had a very bad experience with them last year when i tried to renew my subscription. after a few days (!!!) of my domain being dead, i switched to dominitron from dreamhost. anyway, glad you’re back up!
yah, i think i’ll move it to Domainitron sometime today. it’s prolly easier to have it all in one place. and weld, thanks for the $$ ;)
why don’t you try godaddy.com as they offer domain names with lower price and better service?
