~ spirited away ~
after talking to my aunt for 3 hours over the phone (it was a fun conversation!), ari and i watched Spirited Away in the theater. and it’s sooooo beautiful! when the movie was over, i immediately wanted to rewind to certain parts of the movie to rewatch it again. and again. and again.
the movie was about a little girl who accidentally left the real world and trapped in a world full of monsters and ghosts. her parents turned to pigs and she had to somehow save them and find a way to go back to the human world. along her quest, she met many monsters and befriended with few of them.
coming from miyazaki, i expected to see crazy imaginative worlds with all different cute monsters. and, boy, i was satisfied. the animation was smooth… when the dragon was in pain, it really looked like he was in pain. i mean, it must be really hard to make expression for something we never see in real life.
the movie makes me want to search a haunted bathhouse and live there… (as long as the ghosts are as cute as those baby chicks and as cool as the radish man).

it’s a wonderful movie, isn’t it? i loved it :)
Sweet I saw the movie yesterday and I loved every second of it. I think it is awesome how Miyazaki keeps making better and different movies as he gets older. unlike Walt Disney who kept making the same damn movie over and over again. I saw it in an art theater in Seattle and had a wonderful time. I can’t wait for them to do a professional translation of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind and Laputa.
