~ ramanda arrived + AADC! ~

08 September 2002

my brother arrived in New York. horray! he’s in transit at my apartment for 6 days before going back to school in Savannah. it’s gonna be a fun week :D

he also brought tons of stuff from home… there are new sweaters, thirts, house sandals, two cute crochet hats that my aunt made for me and this big snowboarding jacket that my parents bought the other day. thanks everyone! they fit very well :D

tonight, ari and i finally watched the AADC, this new indonesian movie that tons of people have recommended to me. and, yes, it was impressive. i liked it. good acting, good dialog, good pace and music… and that Nico dude, he’s cute!! and the fact that they shoot most of the movie at my old highschool added a few brownie points too. how come no one ever told me that AADC is about Gonz kids?! although the movie portray the kids much differently than what i remembered (in my mind, Gonz kids were much more raw in real life and less.. umm, pretty), the movie still made me all nostalgic. oh, i miss that school….

thanks to everyone, especially my cousin Noushka, who has told me to watch it and even bought the VCD for me. it’s been a while since i’ve seen a good Indonesian movie, especially teen-related movies. heck, it’s been a while since i’ve seen Indonesian movies. period.

hey,
i’ve never knew that you’re ex-gonz kids. =P.

anyway, rudi sudjarwo - the director was a gonz kid. dennis - who played mamet - also was a gonz kid. dennis won many awards for his independent movie “sudah jam 5 sore”, which he made when he was at gonz, along with his friends from ‘16mm productions’ - all are gonz kids. so, AADC is gonz kids all about ?

hey an, thanks for recommending the movie! oh yeah, i heard about “sudah jan 5 sore”… i’ll watch it once i get home. in my opinion, gonz was totally different than how it was portray in the movie. but then again, it’s been 11 years since i went to school there… so, my opinion probably won’t count ;)
