~ less is more ~

15 August 2002

ari, who took a workday off due to his feverish toothache, and i got a haircut again today. same exact one as the last time… short and spikey. i’m now addicted to short hair, which i think is a common addiction. it’s hard to grow your hair once you cut it short. less is more: less shampoo, less time to get ready, less hair clogging the bathtub.

i’m also addicted to this new hair salon. it’s ran by several friendly japanese girls. they speak broken english, but they still manage to make friendly and welcoming conversation. the girl that cut mine and ari’s hair, Naoko, has almost no hair. she shaved ‘em to only about 1/4 of an inch long. the first time i went there, i thought to myself: why would i want to get a haircut from someone with no hair? but ari has done it before, and it worked very well… so is this time. i guess people with no hair are good hairdresser…. strange but true.

Naoko is very friendly. there are a few times when ari and i couldn’t understand her pronounciation, but in general we had fun conversations such as food stuff, good restaurants and cheap and good grocery stores around New York City. today, she told us about some sites in internet where her husband buy his cheap cigarettes (here in NYC, a pack of ciggy is around $7.50). she’s trully a valuable resource.

linkydink: godote has a pretty site. and his work under gallery is even more amusing. i love his contributed flash piece of bicycling dude for design faculty

Great website and very informative.
thanks for the info on Hair Kuwayama. I took my wife there the other day and had Naoko do it. …She was great! My wife loves her new do.. very short as well. Naoko rules!
Too bad they don’t accept American express..

Keep up the great work..
By the way, I notice that you guys love to eat out. Have you tried Dragonfly on 7th avenue in the West Village and Cendrillon on Mercer street. Both are great asian fusion restaurants..

Cheers
