~ big thunderstorm ~
at 7:30-ish, ari called telling me that his cell has ran out of battery and he’s currently downstairs, outside my office building. yay! he’s finally here to pick me up! as i walked out, the sky was very gray and the wind was gusting.
maybe it didn’t register to our mind that we’re gonna have a big thunderstorm, we decided to go grocery shopping at St. Marks. we also stopped by at the comic store to buy a few books beforehand, taking our time. but as we walked out of the grocery store, it was pouring. the lightning strikes every 5 seconds and there is practically no one on the street. people are crowding under store canopies, few of them are taking out snacks from their grocery bag. they look like they’re gonna be there for a while.
still underestimating the thunderstorm, we decided to walk to the subway station with umbrella. oh boy, that was a tough 3 block walk. fast streaming water was up to my ankle, and the umbrella did little in keeping us dry. by the time we got to the station — which was also crowded by people waiting for the rain to be over — my new sandals looked like worn out 2-year-old pair.
