~ downtown walks with Rani ~
since i was late yesterday, i finally get to catch up with Rani, i friend of mine whom i haven’t seen for over 12 years. i was supposed to meet her at the MoMA store in Soho, but, stupid me, ari and i waited in the MET store instead. i thought all museum stores are all the same.
we went to Bar 89 to have some appetizer and talks. it was a good place to have those, since by just having 2 appetizers, we got out the place with full stomach.
Rani was with Annie, an architect/exhibit desinger who are currently living in Brooklyn. yay! new friend! she’s a bit camera shy, especially when told that i might post the picture in this site.
Rani is visiting the city. on the 3rd of July, she’ll be leaving NY and heading to DC, then leave for Indonesia to get married (!!). trying to be a good NY host, we showed her around including a bit of shopping in the affordable H&M. we walked around Soho and St. Marks… ended up sipping Tibetan Tea at Lhasa’s backyard patio. it gets even nicer when the waiter starts explaining about the thermal balance of food (saffron is hot, coconuts are cool, mango is hot…). lovely day. i need more of those.

oh, that’s right! London has Soho, too… well, i was quite a amuzed to see a sign to Soho when i was in London. so, i know how you feel ;)
it is so bizarre to not only hear H&M exists in new york, but so does soho. i am so used to associating them with my beloved london, not ny!
