~ long tiring day ~

05 November 1999

today was such a hectic day. in the morning, the subway was really slow. i had to change train from F to E or C at West 4th. so i got off, went to the upper level, and waited there for god knows how long. finally the E came. i got on and grab a seat. all the sudden the conductor said, “get off the train! get off the train. this train is not going anywhere! get off!”… so everyone grumbled and get off. two seconds later, the conductor said, “come back in.. come back in. we’re leaving!”… so, of course, everyone jumped back in trying to get a seat. i haven’t even put my ass down, the conductor told us to leave the train again…

what the hell is going on? i’m late for work, dammit!

people started to get pissed. the conductor was trying to explain that the train would go on a different track. one guy just kept yelling, “what the FUCK is going on? Every fuckin day, there is always something fuckin wrong with the fuckin subway! i’m sick and fuckin tired with this”… and he circled around the rows chairs on the station. after circling, he would say the same line again. and circled again. “what the fuck… fuckin subway..” again. after seeing him doing the routine for 4 times, i got tired and decided to just walk to work. i’m already fuckin late anyway.

at work, as usual, always hectic. i got 4 hours of meetings, which left me kinda disoriented afterwards. overwhelmed of things i had to do. i think i have to go to work both saturday and sunday.

after work, i decided to join a couple of co-workers to watch Being John Malkovich. Diane, Pete and I left around 7, stopped by in a pub in Chelsea (i don’t know the name of the pub) to grab something to eat while waiting for Diane’s roommate to show up.

to tell you the truth, i don’t remember anything of the conversation in that pub. i was so dead tired and very much antisocial. i hardly talked and barely opened my eyes. everyone’s drinking beer and i only had a cup of water and unfinished cheeseburger. i was really exhausted.

at 9, we watched the movie. Scogin was supposed to join us, but i guess, he didn’t make it. too tired? maybe… anyways, the movie was great. the storyline is twisted and very strange. very original. i’m not sure if it’s gonna be one of my favourite, but it’s worth to watch.

on the way home, i decided to take a cab, considering my morning incident with the subway. but i forgot it is Friday night. i had a hard time grabbing a cab. and finally i found one that would stop for me. i got on, told him to drive me to Queens. 10 blocks later, the cab’s engine went dead. he told me that he needed to fix the car, i don’t have to pay a fare, and to go on finding another cab.

once i hopped out, the cab took off. huh? i thought the cab driver just told me that the cab was broken? *sigh*… i should’ve knowd better. no cab wants to go to Queens. too far…

so anyway, i walked to the nearest train station and tried to take the F. i waited for almost an hour, lost 50 cents when i tried to call ari and the public phone just swallowed the money without connecting my call…. and finally when the train came, there was a pool of puke on the floor.

hmm. 1 and a half hour of stinky ride. at least the movie was good…
