~ it’s snowing! ~

25 January 2000

it’s snowing! a snow storm hit New york City! well, it’s actually the second snow storm, but the first one, which happened last week, was kinda lame. it was like an appetizer, while the today’s one is the main entree.

the news said the snow started sometimes around 5 in the morning. by 8 am, there was probably a foot of snow on the ground… pretty quick.

i like snow. i’m always excited whenever the snow season started. my obsession with snow probably has something to do with being raised in a tropical country and lived there for 16 years. i haven’t seen snow until 7 years ago.

i was living in a dorm of my high school. it was almost study hall (i was in a prep school, and they had a mandatory study hall). my friend rushed to my room, telling me that it started snowing outside… so, i ran outside wearing only tank top and shorts. i’ve always thought snow was a round ball of slush, about the size of a quarter. just like those drawn in a cartoon. so, of course, i was kinda amused when i found out snow is not exactly that big. it wasn’t as heavy as i thought. i called my parents and started babbling about how the snow actually looked like. i was like, “you know what? snow doesn’t fall straight to the ground! it actually sorta flies horizontally whenever there is a wind! and it looked more like a dust than slush!”

i was excited. and probably sounded dumber than ever.
