~ art brut ~
04 February 2001
yesterday, ari, alyssa, scogin and i went to Museum of American Folk Art to see the ABCD: a collection of art brut exhibition.
most of the artwork in the exhibition were created by patients from mental hospitals. the piece that i can’t forget was from Henry Darger. a pretty large drawing of girl toddlers on playgrounds having some violent adventure. i can’t even begin to describe how twisted the artwork is. bizzare stuff.
although some of the pieces were scary and twisted, some of them didn’t look that threatening but filled with crasy metticulous details — no pun intended. those are the ones that made me want to go home and start drawing again. not with Adobe Illustrator… but with pen and paper.
