The blue legwarmers are done! It went pretty quickly and Aina loved it. Which makes me a very happy knitting mama! She said, it fits her perfectly and she would stop using her old one, because that pair now felt loose after wearing this one. She also said, this blue pair is not itchy even after a long session wearing them.
From the Réka Knits Pattern, I mostly just changed the amount of stitches, to accomodate Aina’s skinny legs. Aina also requested to have a tighter band around her feet and ankle. So, instead of starting with 36 stitches, on this one, I started with 30 stitches.
But then, I got worried that it would get too tight around her thigh. So I ended up adding increases in two places: 2 stitches around her calves, and 2 more stitches on the thigh, right after her knee.
When I started casting on, I made a weird mistake… I guess, I haven’t knitted for a while and I forgot to do cast on, and ended up casting it differently. The cast on ended up very loose and quite elastic, which was perfect for this legwarmer. So I ended up using the mistake for all the cast-on that i needed for this project. I tried to find youtube videos on how I made the cast-on, but I couldn’t find it… yet. I’m still looking… Once I find it, I’ll post it here.
To pair the looseness of the cast on, I used Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off for the binding off. So far, it’s the most loose bind off I could find, and I can control how much loose I wanted to be. So, if you want, I think you can use the Jeny’s Stretchy Slipknot Cast-On to start.
Anyway, Aina seemed to be a happy customer 🙂

She can also wear them scrunched up like this:
So, it all worked well. So well that I have started to make another one. This time, in stripes and in a slightly larger size for Aina.
