I had been thinking of getting Aina a smaller pointe shoe bag to bring to class. Her current one was quite big; it fitted all of her 3 shoes (1 pair of pointe, 2 pairs of soft shoes) along with all the accessories. It became cumbersome to deal with during the class. I was thinking of sewing her small drawstring bag out of mesh material, that can fit a pair of pointe shoes and toe pads.
Pointe shoes need to dry out after use, so mesh is the best material to use for pointe shoes. Hmm, where do I buy mesh fabric?
Then I realized that I can just make one… instead of sewing, I could easily crochet the bag. It would be a fast and easy project! I already had a ball of cotton yarn that I use for darning her pointe shoes, I can just use that for the bag. Maybe I can finish it in one day…
So, this morning, as soon as Aina left for school, I started to crochet. Using a pair of her pointe shoes as the size reference, I sort of just measure and plan along the way.

I kept crocheting during Aina’s violin class, during my wait at the kopitiam with my coffee, and during Aina’s ballet class… Basically everywhere I went today, I took the unfinished bag with me.
That night, the bag was done! Ready to be used tomorrow… I used a natural-color thick cotton string for the drawstring. I think it matches the off-white bag very well. Aina was very happy with her new pointe shoe bag. She said it’s pretty and she loooooooved the color. Yay!
Not bad for a one-day crochet project!

Hi Kayla, I’m not good with writing patterns… always mess it up. Sorry!
