After skipping the Great Eastern Women’s Run 2015 — actually I skipped all running race last year due to my back injury — this year, I’m back… only to participate on the 5K category 🙂
I haven’t been running for more than 5K since the back injury. My last 5K was the Metasprint Series with Shinta, and even then I was very slow. After the Metasprint in February, I realized that if I started to run 3 times a week, even though it was only 3-5k per run, I would get sick with flu. So, I basically haven’t been able to run without catching flu afterwards. Ugh.
But after joining Asokan’s class at Om Shiva Yoga, I started to get better (no more flu!). So, when the Mama Runners SG wanted to join GEWR 2016, I thought, why not give it a try?
Actually, this year’s GEWR was kinda special for the Mama Runners SG. It was actually our first time racing together, on the same category (5K!) again since Brooks Run Happy 2013… well, almost together. Yana was in 21k category, and Chacha was down with Shingles when the race was on. But I think it’s close enough 🙂
The race was fun. I have never tried the 5K category on GEWR before today, so with this, I have tried every single category available for me in GEWR. And like the previous GEWR races, it was still very much a well managed and enjoyable race. It’s still my favorite running race in Singapore.
