Since tomorrow is my birthday, I decided to have a new hairstyle. New year, new hairstyle!
Well, not really. Actually it was because James was in town. He’d been living in Shanghai for the past few months, which made Ari and I worried on who’s gonna be doing our hair while he was away.
Since he would be away most of the time, I had decided to go for a simple haircut that did not need much maintenance. Same thing with the hair color. In fact, I’m thinking of growing my hair. However, I currently had an assymetric hairstyle, where the right was shorter than the left. As it grew longer, the head started to look too lopsided. So, now that James is here, it’s time to even them out again.
So, first James cut the hair to my usual short haircut. The shortest part of my hair is very short, so the rest of the hair had to follow that length. As a result, my hair ended up very short.
As usual, he did it in two phases: the wet and the dry.
Then, after the haircut was done, he dyed everything to black. I’ve been getting a lot of grey hair lately, especially on the side of my head around the ears. So, I’m happy to get the black back.
Then after that, he went to do some highlight that he called Spotlight. It’s basically a lighter colored circle around the top of my head, giving the illusion that I have a perpetual spotlight shining on to my head. I thought it looked interesting. Much more subtle than the previous Blue Black color.
I think I like this haircut. Since it’s short, if I decided to do semi-permanent hari color again, it would be easy to bleach it.
