Remember all the Princess Florine videos (1, 2, 3) that I’ve been taking for the past few months? I think I’ve explained in the latest entry that, the reason why Aina had been taking a private ballet lesson and learning how to dance the Princess Florine variation, was she’s going to try the Cheng Ballet‘s internal competition. It’s called Young Ballet Competition (YBC), and this year is their inaugural event. The YBC will be on 27th of March 2016.
Yep, it’s this weekend.
So, yesterday, when Aina took her last private class with Ms. Ho, she received her entry package.

It’s kinda like the race pack for running race; it has the run-down schedule for the D-day and a backstage pass for her to wear that day. No free goodies though. She’ll receive her entry number sticker (which is equivalent to a race bib, to be worn on her belly during the competition) on the D-day when she register.
Honestly, we didn’t even realize that competition was right around the corner until we received this package… “Oh yea… *gasp*… it’s this weekend!” We haven’t talked about the competition aspect for this whole thing. As for Aina, when people asked her if she’s ready for the competition, she replied quickly, “No…”. When I asked her if she’d be okay during the competition, she’d give me a grin and say that she’s kinda nervous, but in a normal way.
As for me, I’m trying my best to give her encouragement without being too pushy…
Don’t worry about the whole competition thing. Just dance as if you want to entertain the audience with the prettiest and the best Princess Florine variation that you can portray. Enjoy the dance… and have FUN!
I guess it really is normal to be nervous. After all, this is her first competition ever… Not counting the running races, of course.
So, please wish her luck.
