koda and i celebrate our birthdays together. this year, should be rather special, because if we follow the common assumption of 1 year of human life equals to 7 years of dog life, koda and i are the same age now…
too bad dogs can’t go to restaurants… the first half of the day, we went to the Clarke Quay’s Tapas Tree— without koda — to have lunch. we dressed up a little nicer than usual. aina wore what she calls her birthday dress.
we ordered a few tapas (the sardine, the fried cheese and some creamy shrimp on toasted bread) and paella for two…
…which ended up too much for us.
when we asked if we could take the paella home, they package it in this little aluminium foil purse that aina can carry around. so cute!
for the second half of the day, we did the cake + candle blowing thing. aina put on her party hat that she got from naia’s birthday party about 2 months ago. she’s been very into birthday celebration since then.
koda got her canned food with candle on top… she loves canned food, but it’s so expensive so she only gets it on special occasion, such as this one. as usual, she gets nervous around fire, so she didn’t want to go near her “cake” the whole time we were singing for her… aina, happily, did the candle-blowing.
i got my cake, too! all morning, aina and ari was sneaking around buying cake and making me a present. and i pretended to be unaware. aina insisted the cake should have strawberries on it, “binggi likes strawberries!”…
after the singing and candle-blowing, ari reminded aina to give the present to me. she’s been hiding it in one of her purses all morning, and kept telling me that, “there is nothing in my purse, binggi! we didn’t make anything, really!”… i couldn’t help laughing everytime she said it.
she scrambled looking for her purse, and when she finally found the present, she ran to me and yelled “SURPRISE!!!”
it was a card, drawn by ari and colored by aina… they put the three pundu on the cover.
the inside is even cuter: a happy birthday wish with picture of me drawn by aina and picture of koda drawn by ari. and aina wrote her own name on it, even though she doesn’t know how to write yet.
yes, i loooooooove the present. and the cake, too.
