introducing the fifth Beautiful Ghosts Around the World: Glaistig.
Glaistig is a Scottish mythical creature. the upper half of the body is a beautiful girl with pale greyish skin and long blond hair, while the bottom half is of a goat. it is believed that she might be a water spirit, so she’s often found near body of water such as ponds and river.
i wish i could draw the goat part, it’d be fun. unlike Lamia‘s snake bottom, goat legs don’t bend upwards so they don’t fit in the frame. oh well.
anyways, in some legends, Glaistig appears pretty evil: she lures men with her dance and singing, and later she drinks their blood. or that she’s mischievous enough to cause travelers lost on their way.
while in others, she seems to be a helpful and kind spirit, who protects cattle and herders, and will watch over children whose parents are out on the field milking cows and farming.
the other BGAW are: Kuntilanak, Yuki Onna, Huli Jing, Lamia, Manananggal and La Llorona.
