What are your personal memories of September 11th?
ah, the day that changed my life forever… i have it recorded here. you can even see the day after, two days after and the weekend after. those posts reflect the mood and feeling i was in.
but the impact afterwards was much larger. with the crumbling economy in the states, life was hard. work was even harder. i survived 6 layoffs in the office before i finally quit.
between fear, propaganda, hate and anger all around, i stopped watching TV for the next year or so. then, i went in to depression. friends changed. i stopped talking to my best friend for 6 months, because we ended up offending each other whenever we talk about the 9/11 stuff. i grew more insecure and paranoid. i get fever every two weeks, cry every few hours and threw up at least once every two days. weird how minds can fully control the body… life sucked and stayed sucked for the 15 months.
i ended up leaving the country which i have planned to stay for good. it was a tough decision, but i think it might be the best decision i’ve ever made given the circumstances. i healed.
but, hey, how can i complain? there are many more people who are still living the ugly consequences of the 9/11…
ps: yes, this is another QotD from Vox…
i lived thousands of miles away when it happened (in LA). i can only imagine what it felt like for you 🙁
it still feels quite unreal whenever i think about that day… crazy.
Glad to hear that you’ve healed.
thanks, so am i 🙂 how are you, mon?
