everyone is talking about Mac mini, the cute little white box. just like all the other Apple products, the Mac mini is very pretty and nicely designed. what’s new about it is the little computer is considerably cheap compare its predecessors… wow, an affordable Apple computer! that’s new… with that, a few people have asked me whether i would do my switch.
naah… i think i’ll stick with my PC preferrence. why? it’s cheap, it’s cute, it does tons of things, and it guarantees (for now) that you’re less suspectible to viruses and worms! what more can you ask?
well, there are two main reasons why i refuse to buy the cute little Mac mini (gah! i can’t stop saying the word “cute” in this entry! But the Mac mini IS really that cute! anyways…):
- in my household, we already have 1 Mac user, which is Ari. we have a we have a Powerbook, along with two iPods and an Airport (first generation, but that’ll do for now). we think it’s a good idea to have at least one PC in the house. that way, we can still test our internet-related work on two different platforms.
- if we were to buy a desktop computer, and if it were have to be an Apple, we’d rather to buy a G5. stronger, faster, and, still, pretty. and if we ended up buying the G5, it’s going to be used by Ari… so i’ll end up sticking with my PC laptop anyway.
don’t get me wrong, i do love Mac products. i love my iPod to death… but buying the Mini just doesn’t justify the cost, no matter how affordable it is…
ps: i’m back in Jakarta….
