It is an online journal of Avocadolite family. We are: the wife Thalia (who mostly updates these pages), the husband Ari, the girl Aina, the dog Koda.
We currently live in a small tropical island called Singapore, located in the heart of South East Asia. It’s a perpetual summer here, so we’re always sweating. It’s kinda ironic because Thalia likes knitting and making (and wearing) warm clothing. We ride our bicycles almost everywhere. The bicycle is broken… 🙁
We own a small design studio called Pericraft. It’s located next to our living room. That way, Aina and Koda can go to work easily. Other than that, Ari likes futsal, Thalia likes running and yoga, Aina loves ballet, Koda loves food with carrots. We all like drawing, swimming and ice cream. We try to do those every day.
About the Blog
This blog currently serves as a container of our random thoughts, a travel journal, a photo repository, artwork and craft showcase, and a place to share our stories with friends and family who don’t live in the same city as us.
This blog started in January 1999 as a tool for me (Thalia) to learn SSI. It was a journaling site… If you want to see my first ever journal entry, it’s still here. After about a year, it evolved to a blog (thanks to Blogger). But blogging got boring, so I started using Greymatter for about a year to go back to journaling. Then, I changed the content management system to Movable Type and loved it. I loved it so much that I stayed using Movable Type for over 10 years! Recently though,I migrated everything to WordPress because it makes more sense to do so. But I haven’t had time to fix all the links and the flow of the site, so there are still many links going to the old blog, and it might be a little confusing.
This journal started a few days after my college graduation day back in Pennsylvania. So it has recorded many aspects of myself, including my fresh-graduate anxiety period, my ambitious working life in New York City, the internet bubble period where everyone got a taste of the lavish lifestyle of rockstars, and my depression after the 9/11. This journal also tells the story of my nomad lifestyle where I lived in three different countries all at the same time (Australia, Indonesia, and Singapore) for about a year and a half in 2002-2004. It is now recording my settled and married life with a kid and a dog in Singapore.
The Avocadolite Blog is a part of Avocadolite, a hub of all fun projects from me and Ari. It is hosted at Dreamhost.
