Today is the hotel day… We almost spent the whole day in the hotel. After Ari left for work, Aina and I went back to sleep and woke up really late. We almost missed the breakfast time! So we hurried up, dressed and went down to the restaurant. The breakfast buffet was almost finished when we got there, so we didn’t eat as much as yesterday…
After breakfast, we went to the Hotel’s Kids Club to sign Aina up for activities in the afternoon. According to the schedule, this afternoon there would be a “Behind the House” tour, which took the kids to the kitchen, laundry area, and all the behind-the-scene stuff of the hotel. Aina was very interested, that’s why she wanted to sign up. But the lady in the Kids Club said, that the tour would only happen if there were 4 or more children joining. If there were less than 4, all the afternoon activity would be in the club. So, Aina had been crossing her fingers and hoping there would be more than 3 kids later this afternoon.
During lunch, we went to Siam Paragon to meet up with Yana & Leo and their family, who were also in Bangkok during this school holiday. We had lunch at the Food Republic at Siam Centre. I didn’t know there was a Food Republic here in Bangkok… I thought it’s just a Singaporean foodcourt. They did have a few Singaporean food, like chicken rice and all. But I went for their omelette and green curry dish, which was very yummy. Aina really loved the omelette, but the curry was way too spicy for her. So she got pork with rice instead. And it came with a delicious fishball soup.
I also bought this dark blue drink… I don’t remember the name, but it tasted like grass jelly drink… Without the grass jelly. It was kinda weird. I prefer the real grass jelly drink. With the grass jelly.
When we got back to the hotel, Aina went straight to the Kids Club to join the tour. Since it’s basically my me-time, I decided to go to the hotel’s gym and catch up on my running. I’ve missed 3 runs! It was 2:30 and the gym was empty… I guess everyone was out shopping or working. It looked like the busy time of the gym was in the morning and after 6pm. They gave me a towel, a bottle of water and headphones. So, off I went on the treadmill. I also did a little bit of yoga and stretching afterwards.
The view from the treadmill was very nice, down into the pool…
When I came back to the room, Aina was still out. So, I turned on the TV and watched the Mad Max: Fury Road… Another me-time thing I’d been wanting to have 🙂
That night, we had a quick dinner at Siam Paragon. We tried the Ootoya at Siam Paragon, which turned out to be rather disappointing. The food was bland and the people were far from friendly… So, we have decided that next time, we would not go to restaurant chains anymore… especially the Japanese ones.
We stopped by the Paragon Gourmet Market to buy some bubblegum. Aina had been very into bubblegums for the past year or two. Ever since she had learned to make bubbles, she asked anyone she knew who went out of the country for to buy her bubblegum…. You know, bubblegums are not sold in Singapore.
Once we got back to the hotel, Ari was busy with his conference call… So Aina and I decided to enjoy the bubble bath in their fancy bathtub before bed time.
