a few friends on facebook and twitter mentioned that TOKYOBIKE has opened their flagship store in Singapore last week. we first saw tokyobike when we went to japan (tokyo, to be exact) last year in September. the bike was so nice and simple. we even checked out the prices and considering to get it ship to singapore, but it was too expensive to do that.
so, when they are opening a store in singapore, of course we have to go and check it out.
we biked to the Kampong Glam area… to avoid the nasty weekend traffic around orchard and bugis area, we decided to go around and went by the river, and entered beach road from there.
it was just finished raining, so the weather was nice and cool… until we get to the beach road, when it started to get hot. we stopped by the Sate Padang restaurant at Kandahar Street, because i’ve been craving some sate padang (which i got the address from shinta just a few days ago).
after lunch then we biked to Haji Lane to check out the tokyobike. those candy-color bikes are so cute! and the people there are very friendly… we were allowed to park our bikes in front of their store.
ari, who’s looking to get a new bike is now torn between this tokyobike or a vintage bike… silly him, he forgot to test ride the tokyobike…
haji lane looks prettier and prettier lately. there is this massive south-american looking mural on the first building of the street… i think it took them a few weeks to finish it off, because even today, they’re still working on it. they had to close off half of the street to fit the forklift.
oh, and this is the first time i cycled wearing my 3″ ankle boots i got at the Far East Plaza. the wedge had to literally be sewn to the sole because after a few wears, the heels fell off… you know, cheap shoes.
thank you for the shoe cobbler at Holland Village for saving my beloved cheap boots. now i can wear them cycling 😀
more photos? sure 🙂
